The air conditioners have been rightly included in our daily lives as a necessary household appliances, mainly in order to deal with the high temperatures during the summer months, and cold in the winter, especially as the solution of heating with other energy sources is often more expensive.
The first key feature that will occupy us in the selection of air conditioning unit, is the power of the machine (BTU).
That is, the power that our air conditioner must have to be able to effectively change the temperature in our space. Indicatively, some factors to be taken into account:
The volume of space and the height of the ceiling
The type of construction and the degree of insulation of the building (existence of insulation / windows / aluminum frames)
The floor on which the space is located (penthouse or intermediate floor)
The orientation of the rooms (ex.if there is sun for many hours)
The existence of other electrical appliances in the area (e.g. kitchen, refrigerator, TV etc.)
The number of people who are usually in the room during the operation of the air conditioner
Energy heading
The classification is based on their energy efficiency, i.e. the useful amount of energy they release in space compared to what they consume. The energy class is measured on a scale of seven steps From A++ + to G, with Class A + + + being the most efficient, whereas Class G, the least efficient.
DB noise levels
The noise generated during the operation of the air conditioner is an important choice criterion. For example, although the fan speed affects noise levels, maximum limits for the internal unit are 40dB and for the External the 55dB. If we are interested in the air conditioner being extremely quiet, then we need to look for a model where the operating noise levels of the internal unit range at 20dB - 25dB.
Ecological coolant R32
In summary, the advantages of refrigerant R32:
It does not adversely affect the ozone layer and is more environmentally friendly
Increases the energy efficiency of the air conditioner compared to the R410
Significantly reduces maintenance costs and can be recycled more easily and reused
Performs better at Extreme external temperatures by transferring larger amounts of heat per mass unit compared to R410A
Functions & features
Ionizer
The ionizer is an advanced electronic technology filter (cold plasma filter). The ionizer in air conditioners uses electric fields by releasing positive and negative ions in the air, which neutralize bacteria and viruses, while at the same time retain dust, odors, and suspended particles, offering healthy and high quality atmosphere in our space.
The ionizer function is recommended if the air conditioner is intended to be used in smoking areas and in cases of people suffering from allergies, the elderly and babies.
Dehumidification function (Dry)
One possibility that few people know and usually ignore is that an air conditioner can also be used to dehumidify a space.
The units that have the specific function of dehumidification, with the indication “dry”, can remove moisture from the indoor air and make it more fresh, if the set temperature the air conditioner is lower than the internal temperature of the room.
WiFi
The trends of the season require all our electronic and electrical appliances to be interconnected and thus, air conditioners are no exception. Several models on the market now have wireless capability that interfaces via WiFi with your mobile phone or tablet, where by means of the corresponding application have access to information on the functioning of the unit and other useful features.
